Join us for an in-person workshop on beginning welding with Vince Caruso of Caruso Farms on Saturday, April 1 from 9am -12pm.  This hands-on workshop is designed for the DIYer who has little to no experience welding.  This session will be helpful if you are thinking about purchasing a wire-feed welder or want to learn the basics to get started welding in your home shop.

Participants will:

  • Learn about what safety equipment is needed including Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Use and understand the equipment and supplies needed to get started at home.
  • Gain hands-on experience “running beads” with a wire-feed welder.
  • Learn the basics of how to adjust and set up a basic “hobbyist” welder
  • Receive a list of useful resources to help improve and refine skills in the future.
  • Assemble a small metal project.  (Project TBD, you may not get to take this home!)

The 3 hour class is limited to 8 participants to ensure everyone can safely experience using welding equipment.

Participants must wear leather boots, heavy cotton or denim pants. long sleeved cotton shirt (think old sweatshirt or flannel, no polyester or other synthetic materials). Bring your own safety glasses if you have them.

We will provide welding helmets, welding jackets, welding gloves, and will have extra safety glasses available to use during the class.

Please note that this workshop will not take place at the farm.  The location address in Monroe, WA will be shared after registration.

Coffee, tea and a light morning snack will be provided beginning at 8:30am; workshop starts at 9am.  This workshop will take place inside.  Masks are not required, but those who would like to wear a mask are welcome to do so.

There is a suggested donation of $35 for SnoValley Tilth members and $50 for non-members, to be paid at registration.  Each individual participant must register for this event.  The fee for this workshop covers supplies.
